We recently completed rail upgrade works and stacker remediation at FMG’s Port Hedland operations during a scheduled shutdown.
The rail works consisted of the removal of existing grout, angle correction of plates and pandol, as well as the removal and replacement of old concrete rail bearers and concrete. The stacker was blasted and re-coated.
Project challenges:
- Time restraints of the shutdown period.
- Confined work area.
- Isolation delays.
- Multiple contractors within one work area.
- Dust contamination restricting when coatings could be applied.
